I haven't had much time to go out and shoot lately which made me look around the house for subjects. This macro is of our door mat shot hand-held using the amazing Canon EF 100mm f2.8 L IS.

Dan's eye at work.
I was testing the IS feature of the new Canon EF100mm f2.8 L lens, and was impressed that you can actually use it without support in available light and get reasonably sharp images. In this case it's a 1/30s exposure which is pretty good for a 100mm macro lens used handheld.

Saw this SD card by a house on the sidewalk of D'Arcy street. Who knows, maybe the greatest photograph ever taken was on it. Or maybe the best book ever written. I guess I'll never know.

For some weird reason this kiwi was bleeding. And Dan ate it! I hope he's ok.
update: This is kiwi fruit, not the bird!

The day I needed my macro lens I didn't have it on me! So I tried to shoot this with the Panasonic LX3 which works pretty good for macro photography.

Frost showing on our window this morning promised a very cold day.

Someone left the ribbon on the holiday decorations at Dundas Square.
By the way my 3rd book; daily dose of imagery - vol 3 is available now. You can order directly from my blurb page or from my books page. Either way blurb will ship the books directly, the sooner you order the better chance you have to get it in time before end of the year. (you'll notice a small increase in price, and it's because blurb is offering premium paper now which is better and heavier stock)

It was very sad to hear that the legendary Paul Newman passed away. He was one of the rare giants of the big screen and a truly generous man.
I started watching the bluray version of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and took a photo of the TV screen, around where he tells Robert Redford: "Kid, the next time I say, 'Let's go someplace like Bolivia,' let's GO someplace like Bolivia." ... moments before they jump! Rest in peace Paul.

Shot at Distillery District.
Although it looks like a macro shot, it's shot from a distance with the Zeiss 135mm lens (which on the Sony A700 camera means around 215mm considering the 1.6 sensor crop factor)
Smaller on flickr.

It's the beginning of spring, so Happy Norouz or Persian New Year.
Hopefully we'll start seeing some greenery soon in Toronto.
